Emotions and deeper meanings

After all that comic work I wanted to draw scenes with a "deeper sense". When I drew those comic style pictures, at most times a head or a whole person was the centre or even the only object in the image.

a pencil drawing of Wolverine (comic style)

Then you can just say if it looks good or not, but nothing more. In my eyes that was not enough for a good image. I wanted the observer to think about the image. What is the meaning of it? What do I want to express with it? I wanted to produce emotions.

sweet puppie's teddy (pencil)

When I look at this sweet, little girl I just want to solace her because she looks so sad. And that is what I wanted. At first you look at her and see how sad she is. That lets you feel her sadness and you wonder why she is so sad. And then you see her Teddybear and that he lost his eye. Just a simple scene, but you get an emotion.

soultree (pencil)
Another one is the soultree. It represents the different parts of a soul. Everybody has another tree. And every tree looks different because everybody of us has a different soul.
This soultree starts at the top with the rough and violent part of the soul, goes down to the left where all the fears tear the soul.
In the centre is the heart. The light and the dark side. And with every beat of your heart the sand in your sandclock of life gets lost more and more forever and will never come back again.
The female hand that tries to reach the male hand expresses the desire of affection.
A symbol for the dark side of the soul is the evil eye. The opposition between the good and the evil of the soul is shown in the thornes and the flowers

My idea of this painting was, that when you leave your life, you have to walk a path on that you will meet the death and you will be confronted with your soul. That path is the path of the hanged souls which you can see in this post (the last painting on the page). For every soul that walks that path, stands there another tree.
